AUTHENTICITY FOR TRUTH-LESS TIMES.2 Peter is "A General Epistle." That is, it is not written to a specific church or individual, but rather, it is written to all Christian believers and Combats False Teaching." From its earliest days, the church had been born in controversy. Chapter one talks about the Salvation of God. Chapter 2 is a warning against false Teachers. Chapter 3 deals with the second coming of Christ and the end of the world.2 Peter was written just before Peter's death 2 Peter 1:14-15. In his first letter Peter wrote to encourage Christians who were suffering persecutions from without. However, in this letter, Peter is concerned about the dangers within the church. In his second letter Peter continued the practical teaching so characteristic of his first one, and he goes on to speak forcefully of the Lord’s second coming. It is presumed that the second Epistle was written not long after the first, probably before the fall of Jerusalem in A.D. 70.
