In this message Ty reminds us to love one another fervently with an intensity. 1.You are building on the imperishable work in your life and the life of other believers. 2.The grace and power of God will enable you to love others. 3.This love originates through the power of grace coming through your own transformed heart. 4.You become willing to sacrifice for the good of another. 5.It comes from your heart, your thoughts, desires, choices, deep within as you love one another. YOUR ENABLEMENT: You are enabled to love through the power of Christ as you are put away all self-seeking and you now have a genuine affection toward other Christians. THE IMPORTANCE: When you meet the need of another Christian in love, you are doing something that will last forever. APPLICATION: Make loving one another fervently from your heart your greatest passion. Ask God to change and make your heart more like Christ so that you are loving from the heart and when you do that and you find his love flowing out through you.

Ty’s theme in this message is living in the presence of God, conducting our lives in the fear of God, and acknowledging that in everything that we do, we do before the face of God, in his presence. EXHORTATION: We are commanded to conduct ourselves in the fear of God. Living before the face of God means that we are aware of our loving Father’s presence at every moment, living in awe and reverence of Him and bringing this awareness into every area of our lives. MOTIVATION: 1) Because of who God is. By his grace, by his power, we want to do the very best that we can to please him. 2) Because of what God has done. He has redeemed us! The motivation for living before the face of God is that our Father gave His only Son to redeem us. APPLICATION: Because our Father has lavishly loved us, our greatest desire is to live in His presence. God is calling us to a life lived in His presence, in joyful service to our Heavenly Father. In response we serve him as His sons and daughters delighting to be in his presence.

An important message! “Whether you eat or drink, do all for the glory of God.” THE EXPLANATION: To be holy means to be set apart for God, letting go of sin and living consistent with God's holiness and righteousness. THE MOTIVE. Because we love God we want to be holy. We love him back by seeking to become like our Father. THE PROCESS. The process of pursuing holiness – actively resisting the conforming pressure of the world and our own sinful desires. THE PATTERN. Pattern yourself after God. Look at God, look at His holiness and be like Him. THE GOAL. Every part of your life being consistent with your identity, who you are in Christ, set apart for God. THE ILLUSTRATION. The priests were set apart. Everything they did from morning to evening was all about worshiping God. THE APPLICATION: Holiness is about worship, praising and honoring Him. His holiness becomes clearer to us. We desire His holiness more and more, and as this process of growing in His holiness continues we become more like Him, who we adore!

In this sermon Ty explores the power of hope in the life of the believer. Biblical hope is the desire for some future good with expectation of obtaining it. It brings the power of the future action of God into the present experience, strengthening us and enabling us to walk faithfully. EXPLANATION: Our problem: we listen to ourselves when we should be talking to ourselves. We cannot allow your thoughts to run uncontrolled. We need to take the word of God, speak it into our lives, prepare our minds for action, keeping sober in the Spirit and fixing our hope completely on the grace to be brought to us at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ILLUSTRATION: The example of Abraham. Abraham believed the promise of God, exercised faith and it was credited to him as righteousness. APPLICATION: We fight with sin every day. If we don't use the power of hope, we’re fighting with one hand behind our back. Think about that in relation to whatever sins you're fighting against. That will make a difference in your battle with sin.

In this message Ty shows us that the surpassing beauty of this present moment is that we stand at the most wonderful moment in all of history. What God wants us do is to live in the wonder of this present moment. 1.THE PROPHETS OF GOD LONGED TO SEE WHAT YOU SEE THROUGH THE EYES OF FAITH. Every OT author from Moses to Malachi wrote about Christ. They were searching for Christ but you have the opportunity every day to see and to know Him as you read through the pages of Scripture with a full, perfect revelation of Him. 2.THE ANGELS OF GOD LONG TO KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW. The angels will never know what it's like to be a sinner and then to be changed and brought into the presence of God. They long to know grace the way you know it APPLICATION: What you have is so amazing that all of the prophets of the OT longed to see, and all of the angels of heaven long to know, but God has given it to us for the praise of the glory of his grace. If we keep our eyes on that, we will be thankful, joyful, steadfast and immovable.

THEME: The Presence of Christ in our suffering. Jesus becomes more real to you than ever before through the dark path of suffering. 1.A DEEPER JOY. He uses suffering to help us see more clearly the glory of Christ and know Him in an experiential way that will swallow up our sorrow with deeper joy. 2.A CLEARER VISION OF HIS GLORY. Joy comes from seeing His glory. Through suffering God is teaching us to look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen so that we can lay hold of the things which are unseen. 3.A FIRMER ASSURANCE. When you hold onto God in the midst of suffering He gives you something of the joy of heaven and you come to an even greater assurance of your salvation. APPLICATION: When you see a storm coming, buttress yourself with the truths that you know in God's Word, He saw this storm coming and He not only saw it coming, He prescribed it so that you can know and love Him more and see His glory. If you do that you will be joyful, stable and strong!

In this message we learn how we are to approach suffering. THEME: We have confidence in the Providence of God (the idea that God is sovereign over every single thing that happens in this universe.) 1.SUFFERING PURIFIES OUR FAITH. Faith is believing the word of God, not what we see with our eyes. When you suffer in the flesh you see that sin is not what it's cracked up to be. In suffering, your faith is being purified, your spiritual eyes are being clarified and focused on heaven and glory. 2.SUFFERING GLORIFIES OUR SAVIOR. When in the midst of your suffering, though you feel that you cannot hold on, you pray, "Lord, help me hold on," and you cling to His word, through your faith you are adding to His glory. APPLICATION: If you focus on the good that God is doing, you can give thanks in all situations, and when you do, your faith is purified and you are adding to the glory of your marvelous Savior. That means you have an opportunity every time, you suffer to strengthen your faith and to magnify Christ.

In this message Ty shows us that: 1.WE HAVE RECEIVED AN ETERNAL INHERITANCE IN HEAVEN. We haven't yet experienced the fullness of that, but it is already in heaven reserved for us. We need to focus on the reality of that inheritance that awaits us. – THE CALL OF OUR INHERITANCE. The call is to cultivate our hearts, transform our affections so that we long for heaven. – THE CHARACTER OF OUR INHERITANCE. It is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away. – THE CERTAINTY OF OUR INHERITANCE. We have an eternal inheritance. Set your eyes on heaven. Ask God to fill your heart with the joy of heaven. 2.WE ARE RECEIVING ONGOING PROTECTION ON EARTH. 1 Peter 1:5 “who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” It is: – Continual Action – Comprehensive in Scope and Duration – Capable. APPLICATION: Think on these things. You are held by the power of God! Rejoice, your inheritance is because of what Christ has done for you.

In spite of their persecution, suffering, trials and afflictions his readers are experiencing the blessings of God. Peter’s purpose statement is in 5:12 This is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it against the opposition, against the hostility, against the persecution. Be faithful. Stand firm in the grace of God. THANKSGIVING – To be thankful means to stop and celebrate the things God has done and to praise him for it. Thankfulness makes you joyful because faithfulness is rooted in thankfulness. 3 Points 1.Actively give thanks to him. 2.You have received the gift of a new birth. 3.You have a living hope. APPLICATION: You have a living hope, an unshakable joy in a risen Savior. That's something we need to think about, thank God for, celebrate among each other and keep reminding each other of these things so that we can live triumphantly and God will be glorified in a people who are joyful and thankful and satisfied because we of all people ought to be joyful and thankful and satisfied.

Another inspiring message! Ty digs deeper into the background of the recipients of 1 Peter, focusing on those who received the letter and then he reveals more about Peter himself. FIRST POINT – THE GREAT GULF DIVIDING JEW AND GENTILE. Ty discusses the animosity between Jew and Gentile in the New Testament. SECOND POINT – THE UNIFYING POWER OF THE GOSPEL. Ty shows how the gospel unifies Jew and Gentile. SUBPOINT 2A – IN PETER’S LIFE. Through a series of circumstances Peter learns that both Jew and Gentile are now the one people of God. APPLICATION – In ourselves we are nothing, but in Christ we are all we have ever hoped or imagined. Come to Jesus, there is every bit of hope for you. He will break the cords of your sin and bring you into His throne room. Keep pressing on saying, "Jesus, I’m looking to You. I’m trusting in You. I’m believing in You." And he will bring you into His throne room, delighting in you. He delights to bring those farthest away and brings them nearest to him in His throne room.

THEME: you must know who you are, what you are, and live consistent with it. YOU HAVE BEEN LOVED BY GOD THE FATHER FROM ETERNITY PAST. God loves you & treasures you. He wants to bring you into relationship with Himself in which He, as your loving Father, delights in you and treasures you. YOU HAVE BEEN SEPARATED OR SANCTIFIED BY THE SPIRIT FOR HIS ETERNAL PURPOSES. – You are set apart to commune with him & to worship Him. You are now wired for righteousness. So live consistent with who you truly are, not with who you used to be. YOU HAVE BEEN UNITED TO JESUS CHRIST IN A COVENANT UNION. You have obeyed him and have been sprinkled by His blood. You now are in a covenant relationship with Jesus. He is your Master, your rabbi, your Lord. You are his bride. CONCLUSION – Your Father loves you, cares for you & watches over you. The Spirit sets you apart unto His purposes & empowers you. Jesus has anointed you to be a king & a priest in His kingdom. He is walking with you and communing with you every day.

The key to your faithfulness is your identity in Christ. How can you be faithful to Christ in the face of increasing spiritual opposition? You must know who you are! Your identity is foundational for your faithfulness. Two key words in 1 Peter 1:1 – “chosen” and “alien.” FIRST POINT: You belong to God. You are chosen by God to belong to Him so that you could be set apart from the world unto God to worship Him. You have a new identity because God acted. SECOND POINT: You don’t belong here. You are an alien, a chosen people, a chosen race, a holy nation. This is a foreign place to you. You have been born again, God has given you a new heart, you have been changed fundamentally. The new birth has transformed your identity so that you are a citizen of heaven. Heaven is your home. APPLICATION: Be faithful, anticipate his coming and hold on to Jesus. Every affliction makes you want heaven more, cultivates your taste for it more, your anticipation for it more and He can’t wait till he gets you home! Praise Him!

This transforming message is actually the first sermon in the series "Our Identity In Christ," a study of 1 Peter. This message is an overview and introduction to 1 Peter. Ty provides important background detail to the book of 1 Peter. His two main points are: 1) The astonishing relevance of the message of 1 Peter. 1 Peter is tailor-made for us today to make us strong and courageous, to make us more than conquerors & to make us victorious in our battle with the enemy. 2) The wonderful relatability of the messenger. Ty reviews the life of Peter, revealing practical lessons from his life that serve as a source of strength and encouragement to us. Application: Ty shows us that Jesus makes us able to stand up against the storm, to be faithful in the midst of trying circumstances through the power of His Word. Not to puff you up in the flesh but I find the word that comes through you very uplifting and Spirit filled in its Glorifying of Christ and lifting up of the Father.

So why aren’t there more interracial marriages within Christianity? Especially people of color. Are we marrying ‘after the flesh?’ Carnal? Are we Christian’s ineffective in the world because of this? Is this why there is so much conflict between certain groups of people? Are we failing to go through Samaria? Or walk the road of Jericho? Are we maintaining boundaries and perpetuating the erection of racial barriers. The kingdom of many believers suffers violence because they are spectators at best; hypocrites. Great excellent message.
