Humility03

Humility Philippians 2:1–11 (KJV) This week's lesson from Philippians 2:1–11 focuses on one of the most essential qualities for every believer: humility. Paul teaches that unity within the body of Christ is only possible when believers walk in humility, following the ultimate example—Jesus Christ. In verses 1–4, Paul urges the church to be "like-minded," having the same love, being of one accord and of one mind. He warns against pride and selfish ambition, which are major threats to the unity and health of any ministry or church. Instead, we are to consider others better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests but also to the interests of others.Verses 5–11 present the perfect model of humility: Jesus Christ. Though He was fully God, He humbled Himself, took on the form of a servant, and became obedient unto death—even the death of the cross. Because of His humility, God exalted Him and gave Him a name above every name.Without humility, no ministry, program, or church can succeed in fulfilling the Great Commission. Pride disrupts unity. Selfishness divides. But humility builds the foundation for love, service, and cooperation in the body of Christ. If we want to be effective in any area of ministry, we must start by humbling ourselves. Christ's humility wasn't weakness—it was the pathway to His exaltation. Likewise, when we walk in humility, we reflect His heart and create a powerful, unified church that can truly change the world.
