Fleeing Babylon

Preaching from Revelation 18, we explore the call to "come out of her, my people" as both a warning and an invitation. Babylon in Scripture is more than an ancient empire—it is a recurring picture of human rebellion against God, from the Tower of Babel to apostate Jerusalem. The command to flee is about avoiding participation in sin and escaping God's judgment, not about retreating from the world entirely.

Believers are urged to resist compromise with worldly values while remaining engaged in God's creation and mission. Wrong responses such as isolationism, asceticism, or rejecting all material blessings are contrasted with the biblical call to live faithfully in the midst of a fallen culture. Drawing from examples like Daniel, Joseph, and John the Baptist, the sermon calls Christians to steadfastness, discernment, and wholehearted devotion to Christ in every sphere of life.
