Jesus Our Fearless Rescuer

Our community was hit hard this week by the crash of the military plane on the west side of the county. Now the whole country is concerned by the tragedy.

Sixteen military persons were killed in the crash, and no one survived.

Our firemen and other first responders battled the fire, hampered by the loads of fuel and ammunition exploding in the flames.

Think of these men whose whole lives are dedicated to saving lives. Think of how devastated they are that there was no one left alive to save.

There is nothing anybody can do for dead people, except treat their bodies with decency and respect.

How sad when a rescuer finds out he's too late, or the case is too hard, or too dangerous, to save anyone at all. All that dedication and strength could not avail anything.

This causes us to reflect upon the mighty power of our Lord Jesus to rescue us! Death cannot stop Him, for He rescues from the very grave itself!

No case is too hard for Jesus! No case is too dangerous for Jesus!

No poor sinner is too vile or too lowly or too helpless for Jesus!

Some thought that Jesus could only go so far in His rescues. They thought that His power was limited. When He went to heal Jairus' daughter, and when she died before He arrived, the people said there wasn't any point in wasting the Savior's time, because nobody could rescue a dead little girl.

When Jesus went to raise Lazarus from the dead, all the people knew that He couldn't save a dead man. They blamed Him for not coming in time, before it was too late to save His friend.

But Jesus showed us that death itself cannot stop Him from rescuing His people!

Even His own death couldn't stop Jesus' salvation!
