Girding Up the Loins of Our Minds

In our text, Peter admonishes us to "Gird up the loins of your mind". That is more than just a figure of speech. It is not a metaphor. It is not merely a prayer to pray, either. Last week we talked about how we see ourselves. An honest assessment of our ourselves, by ourselves, about who we are – how we think, what we believe, how we are weak, where we need help – is a daily necessity in our lives as believers. Without that being practiced regularly, we become complacent, and delusional about our true vulnerability, and we leave ourselves open to the attacks of the enemy, as well as failure as believers.
