What is our focus on?
Every step of the way Elisha was focused on the situation. He knew what was going to happen but he also knew he had to be focused. The word focus can be broken down as such: Follow One Course Until Successful. Elijah, that great man of God, knew his time was done but he remained focused till the very end. He desired to walk in God's power all the days of his life. Elisha was a man who was focused on going forward with God. He had refused to release his spiritual grasp on the man that God had placed in his life; to teach him how to follow God's will. We need more Christians to be like this; to latch hold of good solid Biblical teaching and preaching to help us to grow to be the Christians God wants us to become. Problem is too many Christians get focused on great failure instead. Some start selling the Holy Ghost short on what He can do. That although we have been promised that He will endue us with power we still will decide it can't be done. Here in the text these men thought that the Spirit would have taken the soul and cast the body out like trash. A task will come up in our lives and first thing comes to mind is it can't be done. Focus on God, not the concern and see great results. But focus on self and flounder instead. What are we focusing on?
