A Battle for Culture

Nehemiah was a bold and godly leader, raised up and prepared by God for the battle of his day. That was the rebuilding of the wall in Jerusalem from the rubble of earlier destruction and captivity. Yet, in this book we have more than just the account of a godly leader. We have testimony of the providential hand of God, battling His enemies through the faithfulness of godly households connected in covenantal community. Though the subject of the conflict is a city wall, the substance of the conflict is covenant and culture. And it is in our day as well.
