WSC Q.59 The Sabbath: A Moral & Perpetual Commandment Binding All Men in All Ages 2

The Sabbath is one of the 10 Commandments which is a summary of the moral law, so it is binding all men in all ages, even the Messianic age (Isaiah 66:23). Jesus did not abolish, but clarified proper Sabbath keeping. But Paul does say in Colossians 2:16 that we are not to be judged for not keeping various ceremonial laws including the Sabbath. Since the New Testament Church observed both the 7th day Sabbath & the 1st, Lord's Day, Paul was clarifying that the 7th day Sabbath was no longer a requirement. Hebrews 4:9-11 reminds us that there is a Sabbath rest to keep for God's people today. So are to keep the 1st day as the Sabbath. To be continued in part 3.
