Truth Vs. Tradition
Truth Vs. Tradition. Mark 7:8–9; John 3:3 KJV Jesus confronts the religious leaders for placing man-made traditions above the commandments of God. In Mark 7:8–9, He warns that religious customs can become substitutes for true obedience, leading people away from God's intent. In John 3:3, He tells Nicodemus that being "born again"—a spiritual transformation—is the only way to see the kingdom of God. This message challenges us to examine our beliefs and practices. Are they rooted in divine truth or just human tradition? External rituals are not enough; true faith requires inward transformation. Only the new birth through the Spirit leads to genuine relationship with God. Traditions may comfort or connect us to heritage, but they must never replace obedience to God's living Word. You can be baptized, confirmed, sprinkled, dunked, catechized, moral, and still miss Heaven. Because unless you are born again, you'll never see the Kingdom of God. The truth is not found in systems, denominations, or cultural labels. Truth is found in Jesus. These are deep, essential questions that touch on identity, faith, doctrine, and the human search for truth. Let's take them one at a time, then explore how to distinguish truth from tradition, especially in matters of belief.
