The Wondrous Cross

Isaac Watts was challenged by his father to write better hymns for the church. The result was hundreds of hymns and many psalms put to new music. One of Watts most famous hymns, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, is taken from Galatians 6:14. Watts was noted for the way he included the gospel and the cross in his hymns. He is also noted for his faith under duress. He spent time in prison for his faith.
