The Truth about Pride

As we enter what has been designated "pride month" it is good to see how God understands pride and what God's children can do in response to the troublesome actions of the proud.
Psalm 94 denounces the proud. It doesn't name gay pride. But every diverse form of pride is related. And whatever its manifestation "The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished" (Prov. 16:5). So the prayer of Psalm 94 is appropriate: "Rise up, O judge of the earth; repay to the proud what they deserve!" (2).
Knowing that God hates pride helps us to resist pride ourselves and to find our refuge in God when we are threatened by the proud.
