The Passover

New beginning - Saved through the death of a lamb

Lamb taken on the 10th of the month/ kept till the 14th of the month
Lamb was to be without blemish
Lamb was to be a year old - in the fullness of its strength
Lamb could be taken from the sheep or the goats
Lamb had to become their personal property
Lamb had to die
Lamb had to be prepared without breaking its bones
Lamb’s blood had to be applied to the doorpost
Lamb had to be eaten
Lamb had to be roasted
Lamb had to be eaten quickly
Lamb would bring salvation and security

Salvation is through the death of a substitutionary atoning lamb sacrificed so the guilty may go free.

A.W. Pink describes God as standing guard at the door so that the judgment of the death angel could not enter the houses where the blood of the passover lamb was applied. God’s wrath was satisfied by the judgment that had already fallen on the substitutionary sacrificial lamb. Wrath was turned away. Those under the blood were safe. Believers sins are covered in the blood of our passover lamb, Jesus Christ. He paid the price on Calvary.
