God & Caesar

The Pharisees and the Herodians were natural enemies; but they teamed up to try and entrap Jesus. By asking him a question about paying the poll tax to Caesar, they assumed Jesus would condemn Himself with His answer. He would either offend God or offend Caesar. But Jesus sees through the trap and tells them to "render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and render unto God the things that are God's."
