Westminister Shorter Catechism Q. 36 Perseverance

True Believers are kept by the power of God & do not fall from grace in this life. The reasons for our perseverance are God's work in us. But we also have covenant responsibilities that we must pay close attention to and do, or we are not persevering. Sadly we must acknowledge apostasy does take place, but the benefits of perseverance are God's love, peace of conscience & joy in the Holy Spirit.
