140mm of Light
Terror gave way to hopelessness. There was no way they could be rescued from such a serious entrapment. 700 metres underground, in a poorly mapped spiral mineshaft in already-crumbling ground. Two attempts had already failed. Their three-day food supply had already stretched fourteen days. Still no hope.
When we speak of an impossible rescue like this, we don't even come close to the magnitude of the rescue God committed himself to in Christ. The people living in darkness have seen a great light. On those living in the land of the shadow of death; a light has dawned.
When rescue workers punctured into that underground prison with a 140mm shaft, there was HOPE! When God came into the world in Christ, HOPE came!
