The Suffering King who Calls to Suffer

Jesus did not come so we could live our best life now. He came to call us to earthly suffering and heavenly glory. We must deny ourselves -- deny putting our reason or self-interest first. We must take up our cross and follow him. As we do so, we are freed to love God and neighbor as we should.
