A Famine In the Land
The greatest inheritance a father leaves his children is faithfulness to God. The Scripture states here that Isaac's blessings came because Abraham obeyed the Lord, proving that obedience affects generations. During famine, Isaac was tested—told not to go to Egypt, but to stay where God placed him and trust Him. Living among the Philistines was a trial, yet Isaac did not compromise. When the Philistines stopped up the wells Abraham had dug, Isaac reopened the same wells and called them by the same names. Those wells represent spiritual truth and life. The lesson is clear: in difficult times, we must return to the old paths, reopen the life-giving truths of God's Word, and pass them on unchanged to the next generation. True blessing and lasting fruit come through obedience, separation from the world, and faithfulness to what God has already established.
