Seeing the Details in the Christmas Story
We have seen nativity scenes all of our lives. They were on church lawns and at one time in public squares and every shopping mall. We have seen so many of them they start to fade into the landscape. But would you take a fresh look at the familiar details of the Christmas story today? God has lessons for us in the holiday minutiae.
I. The Star: God Provides Direction for Wanderers (Mt 2:1-12)
II. The Stable: Jesus Transforms every Situation (Lk 2:1-7)
III. The Shepherds: God Commissions Ordinary People (Lk 2:8-17)
Both the major players and minor details of the Christmas story ought to cause us to worship the Lord. The God of the universe humbled himself and came as a man that he might save each of us. Have you gratefully accepted His gift?
