Praise the One True God Who Chose Jacob for Himself

The main point of Psalm 135 is "the one true God has chosen Israel; therefore, praise the LORD!" This sermon takes this in three parts: (1) The One True God, (2) God Has Chosen Israel, (3) Praise the LORD! There is only one true living God who rules over all of creation and all other gods are false and not gods at all. God's people are to worship no other god and must worship God as he instructs them in his Word. God chose a people for himself who will know him and worship him truly. There has always been and always will be a remnant of this people of God from the Fall to the day of the LORD. These people of God like Jacob were not chosen by God because they were in any way significant or deserving in themselves. Just as God has chosen his people to himself out of his grace and love, he keeps them, rules them, and comforts them until one day he when he will make our vindication and comfort complete. We have a role to play as the church in praising the LORD that his name may endure forever on our lips and his renown in the memory of his people. We must give him glory and bear witness to Jesus Christ for all the world to hear.
