Whittling Up a Gift for Christmas
Whittling Up a Gift for Christmas.Romans 12:1 (KJV) At Christmas, we celebrate the greatest gift ever given—God giving His Son. In response to that gift, Romans 12:1 calls believers to consider the most meaningful gift we can offer back to God: ourselves. In The Call to Present Ourselves, we see Paul's loving appeal to believers to intentionally place their lives into God's hands. Just as a craftsman carefully whittles a gift, God calls us to deliberately and willingly present ourselves to Him—not partially, but completely. In The Cause Behind Our Surrender, our motivation is made clear. We do not give ourselves out of obligation or pressure, but because of the mercies of God. Christmas reminds us that God acted first, showing grace, love, and mercy through Jesus Christ. Our surrender is simply a grateful response to all He has already done. Finally, The Consecration That Pleases God reveals what kind of offering God desires—a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable. A life set apart for God is not an unreasonable request; it is our reasonable service. True worship is lived out daily as we allow God to shape us into something useful for His glory. This Christmas, the greatest gift we can place before the Lord is not something wrapped in paper, but a life surrendered—carefully shaped, willingly given, and wholly devoted to Him.
