ABIJAH: A MAN WITH THREE LIVES
TEXT: 2 Chron. 13:1-22; 1 Kings 15:1-8
SUMMARY: In his brief reign of only three years, King Abijah of Judah lived three lives: the one his people saw, the one he himself saw, and the one that only God could see.
I. ABIJAH AS THE PEOPLE SAW HIM (2 Chr. 13:13-20).
A. A Military Leader, 2 Chr. 13:2-3.
B. A Political Leader, vv. 4-8.
C. A (Presumed) Spiritual Leader, vv. 8-12:
II. ABIJAH AS HE SAW HIMSELF(2 Chr 13:21).
A. He had built upon his father's legacy.
B. He accepted the people's accolades.
C. He Accepted the Presumed Amenities of His Office.
III. ABIJAH AS GOD SAW HIM (1 Ki. 15:1-8).
A. God's National Favor Through Outward Obedience.
B. God's Favor Through a Personal Relationship with God.
