Psalm 42/43 Background

Examining the united psalm, Psalm 42/43, we find the background of the psalm to be David's flight from Absalom. Several clues are found in the psalm, including David's description of the land where the city, Mahanaim, was located. But in the process of identifying this situation, we find David's situation of sin. Yet the faith expressed in the psalm teaches us to hope in God's mercy, as well.
