Look to Jesus

We are saved by looking to Jesus. This is a shift in focus. We cannot look to false gods or religions in the world. We must look to Jesus alone. The transfer of our gaze from whatever we were trusting in to trusting in Jesus alone is saving repentance. We must understand our need of a Savior in order to understand this invitation to look to Him. Jesus once said that those who are well have no need of a physician. It's not that they are well; they simply think they are well. The need is not there because they neither thirst nor hunger for righteousness or for the invitation Jesus offers them. Sinners repent; the self-righteous do not (see Mark 2.17).
