More Like Jesus

If we were created to glorify God, but our capacity to do so was interrupted by the fall, and therefore only Christ, the God-man (who did not inherit man's sinful nature) truly glorified God, as all of us should, then we may safely conclude that we can best glorify God, and thereby fulfill God's design in creation, by patterning our lives after the life of the Lord Jesus. We bring glory to God insofar as we are conformed to the image of Christ. Therefore, to be more like Christ should be the goal of every redeemed man or woman, boy or girl. It is a sad truth that many Christians are so unlike Jesus that others have difficulty seeing Christ in them, and God is therefore not glorified in their lives as He ought to be. Someone remarked: 'I think I might have become a Christian if I had not met so many people who said that they were.' This message looks at just a few of the characteristics of Jesus' life, humility, gentleness contentment and zeal, encouraging those who name the name of Christ to 'be imitators of God.' (Ephesians 5:1)
