A Table of Thanksgiving
A Table of Thanksgiving. If Richard Paul Evans wrote a book on Thanksgiving this would be the Message Ps. 103:2; 1 Thess. 5:18; 2 Cor. 9:11 (KJV) Thanksgiving is more than a holiday; it's a table God sets before us—a place where blessings, memories, and moments of grace gather like guests invited to remind us of what truly matters. The question Scripture presses upon our hearts is this: "What are you doing with the blessings still left on your table?"First, it is a table to remember God's goodness. Psalm 103:2 calls us to "forget not all His benefits," because gratitude begins with remembrance. Before we ask God for anything more, we must look back and recognize the countless ways He has already carried us, sustained us, and loved us.Second, it is a table to rejoice in God's grace. Life is not perfect, and sometimes the table holds broken pieces—but God's grace meets us in every circumstance. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 reminds us to give thanks in all things, not because all things are good, but because God is good within them. Gratitude becomes an anchor that steadies us through storms. Finally, this table becomes a place of response—a place where remembered goodness and received grace overflow into generosity. When we see how richly God has blessed us, we cannot help but bless others in return. The table of thanksgiving becomes a table of giving. In the end, Thanksgiving is not just a moment; it is a way of living. It is choosing to notice what God has set before you… and deciding what you will do with the blessings still left on your table.
