Filling up in our Flesh what is lacking in Christ's afflictions
Though something our western ears don't like to hear, the NT makes it abundantly clear that the advance of the gospel requires the suffering of not only the Servant (i.e. Jesus), but also His servants, the saints.
When Paul says, "I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lackin in Christ's afflictions for the sake of His body, the church", what does he mean? Just as importantly, how does this affect us today?
Note: To be able to understand the inspiration of Paul in Rejoicing in his Sufferings to complete Christ's Affliction with this Sermon, please see and read 'Summorphology' - the doctrine of being conformed to the image of Christ. (Romans 8:28)
In this Sermon, we have to be aware of Paul's reason in 'rejoicing' in Sufferings while advancing the Gospel.
Ryan gave the Church a complete Exegesis of this text especially the significance of the word '...what is lacking in Christ's affliction' and 'to make the word of God fully known'
Listen to this 'tremendous' Sermon with prayer for us to understand the mind of Paul to the mind of Christ.
Some highlights in Applications such as the purpose of making the Church mature in which Paul is laboring and struggling....
