Only One Boast

This series on Galatians walks verse-by-verse through Paul’s most urgent letter, opening the text line-by-line to uncover the structural argument of the gospel itself. Galatians is written in the context of a crisis in the early churches of southern Galatia, where teachers were insisting that circumcision and obedience to the law were necessary for salvation. Paul responded by defending the divine origin of his apostleship and demonstrating that sinners are justified before God by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ. The letter unfolds in a clear progression: Paul establishes the divine source of the gospel (Gal 1–2), proves that justification has always been by faith rather than the law (Gal 3–4), and then shows how the gospel produces a life lived in the freedom of the Spirit (Gal 5–6).
