In this Gospel, John selects miraculous acts that are not merely wonders to admire, but signs that point beyond themselves to the identity of Jesus as the Son of God. From water turned to wine to the raising of Lazarus, John’s message is clear: these signs are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God—and that by believing you may have life in His name. This Gospel invites us not simply to observe miracles, but to recognize what they reveal: that Jesus is the promised Messiah, the true Son, and the only source of eternal life.
