It is not my intention in this series to motivate anyone by guilt. Often, when it comes to the topic of stewardship, all we end up hearing is “You’re not good enough. Be better.” Listen: That’s not what stewardship is about. Stewardship is first and foremost about our hearts. What we do is an overflow of who we are. What we give is an overflow of what we value. Jesus says, “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil.” – Luke 6:45.
The topic of stewardship in scripture is not about simply conforming our actions to the expectations of God. Stewardship is about our heart. Because God knows that when our hearts are aligned with his, that’s where we lay hold of the fruit, the fullness, and the freedom he desires for our lives. His best in our lives.
