Is the Bible enough? Whether or not believers have taken time to give serious consideration to that question, their lives, thinking, decisions, words, and actions will reveal an answer. When the authority on the matter speaks, the sufficiency of Scripture is clear. Scripture is enough to restore the soul, make wise the simple, rejoice the heart, enlighten the eyes, and warn the servant, all while being more desirable than gold and sweeter than honey (Ps 19:7-11).

As the apostle Paul’s life nears its conclusion, he reveals that the word of God is enough for Timothy to continue the ministry in a world hostile to the gospel. It is the word that is “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness,” and it is the Word that is to be “preached” and used to reprove, rebuke, and exhort (2 Tim. 3:16; 4:2).
