Thank you for the great sermon! Although I'm not able to attend service Sunday nights right now I'm thankful to have this option!

Here's one of them: The second point shows how the earthly promises God fulfilled for Israel (relief, freedom, adoption, redemption) were promised with an eye to eternal blessings. Now, in the New Covenant, we have the reality of Jesus, so these earthly blessings are taken away. We expect hardship and persecution. We look for eternal blessings.

I never thought of this before: preaching of the gospel does not equal preaching of the word of God. Gospel preaching is a subset in the word of God. So, those sermons which are biblically sound but do not preach the gospel message do not open up the kingdom of heaven.

Angels bring messages from God to Christians on earth; Jesus brings the reality of God's message of love to us. He not only adds to our knowledge about God; He changes our hearts. The rest of the sermon is good, too.

Some lines that caught my attenion: "My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?" So that He would never forsake us. Because of Christ's death, our old selves and our evil desires no longer control us. We are free! Death is still an enemy, but even now Christ has transformed it to serve us by making it an entrance into heaven.

What to do on Sundays has always been confusing to me. Listening to this sermon helps me change my focus from "What to do" to "How to enjoy the blessedness of a Sabbath rest."

This sermon gracefully and skillfully unpacks some complicated and mysterious truths about the Holy Spirit. I was especially drawn to the fact that when Paul speaks of the glory of the Lord in II Corinthians 3, he is referring to the gospel message. Having this compared to the glory that shone on Moses' face when God talked to him leads me to find a new reverence in my times of worship.

The message is not about the biography of Calvin, but about what it means to be Reformed, a legacy of Calvin. To be Reformed is to be centered on God, to give God the glory in salvation, to live for His glory; and to have your faith based only upon the Scriptures.
