Great Sermon!
Wow this is exactly what I have been noticing and been so burdened about that is happening to current North American Christianity and it's about time someone stood up with the truth! I also believe we have been guilty of giving people false assurance just because they "said a prayer" when only the Spirit of God can truly witness within someone to tell them they are saved and then their lives should prove it. In my youth I also was guilty of giving out false assurance to those I tried to lead to Chrisr. However in recent years I have tried to challenge some dear ones I love on their profession of faith in Jesus yet they are continuing to live an overtly sinful lifestyle, reject the authority of the Bible and spiritual leadership, neglect fellowship, excuse sin or hold bitterness toward their brothers or sisters in Christ and bear the fruit of a selfish life. Yet family are consoling themselves saying "Well atleast we know he is saved because he prayed a prayer when he was nine and claims he still believes." Then where is the fruit of repentance and a continuously sanctified life? The few times I tried to speak this truth in love I was chewed to bits by the carnal ones and scolded by family for not having faith in their salvation and being judgemental etc. So i have gotten cowardly
