Wendell Zimmerman

Born in Altus, Oklahoma,Wendell Zimmerman accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior when he was 9. He moved with his family to the state of Arkansas when he was a senior in high school. Dr. Zimmerman surrendered his life to the gospel ministry at 17, preaching his first sermon in August 1933 at First Baptist Church, Springdale, Arkansas. The following September he entered Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He first pastored in Centerton, Arkansas, and then in Eureka Springs, from where he commuted to the University of Arkansas. During the next few years he ministered to several churches in Arkansas and in Southern Missouri. In 1940 he founded and organized Tabernacle Baptist Church of joplin, Missouri. Three years later Dr. Zimmerman founded Kansas City Baptist Temple, where he had 25 years of continuous ministry. He resigned July 14,1968, to accept the pastorate of Jacksonville Baptist Temple, Jacksonville, Florida. He IS now pastor of Bible Baptist Temple in Jacksonville.

T interest in mission work and has visited many mission fields. He was editor of the Baptist Bible Tribune from November 1974 to February 1983. e and his wife, Virginia, have five children.
