Riley Bruce Hensley was born on October 31, 1919 in Esserville, VA. He met the Lord as his Saviour in September of 1934 at the age of 15 years old. On November 4, 1934 in a cottage prayer meeting he announced that the Lord had called him to preach. A preacher friend would read bible scripture for him when he would preach. Through prayer God taught him to read the bible. He was ordained March 5, 1939. He married Mary Catherine Adams on July 24, 1940. God blessed them with four children, one of whom He called to preach also, Herbert Hensley. God later called Herbert's son, Daryl Hensley, to preach also. This is three generations of Free Will Baptist preachers. The Lord has since called Riley home. God was finished with him on July 11, 1998. Riley's life represented something worth being passed on generation after generation. His life wasn't with out trials and the stands he took weren't always poplular but he never compromised God's word.
