Zechariah's First Burden - The Indictment of Israel's Shepherds

The next section of the first burden shifts the focus from the Lord's assurance of Zion's restoration to the circumstances and condition in Israel which had provoked the nation's desolation and exile in the first place. The children of Israel were persistent idolaters whose apostasy from Yahweh was encouraged and nurtured by their shepherds.
