It Pleased The Lord To Bruise Him
Text: Isaiah 53:10
WHAT DID THE PROPHET MEAN? – this is an expression of;
(1) God's Plan or Purpose – Psalm 115:3; 135:5-6; Isaiah 46:9-11; 55:11
(2) God's Delight In The Sacrifice of His Son – the same Hebrew word translated, “it PLEASED The Lord” – is used in a negative sense in – Isaiah 1:11; Psalm 40:6-8
The whole idea that, “It pleased the LORD to bruise Him" means that God delighted in and was PERFECTLY SATISFIED with the sacrifice that Jesus made for guilty sinners…
It means that God had planned and purposed to crush and break His own Son—so that justice might be satisfied and that mercy and grace might abound…
