The Human Condition and God’s Mercy
Series But God...
Theme: Believers do well to consider their past condition of being spiritually dead and present condition of being spiritually alive solely due to God's mercy. The human condition is spiritually dead and corrupt in conduct. Because of this, we are under the wrath of God. It is a good thing to remember that there is indeed coming a day of God's wrath and to consider that we can store up that wrath against us by refusing to repent. God's wrath is coming on account of earthly sins, and Jesus alone delivers us from the wrath of God. No one, except those in Christ will escape God's wrath. In v. 4, we read of God's intervention. In application, we need to thank God for saving us from His wrath! As believers it does us well to remember not only what we were but what we are now. In the past that we were dead in our sins, rebels, children of wrath, and spiritually dead. But God in his great mercy, made us alive! Because of His great love, He did not leave us there. For his own glory He rescued us!
