What I Learned At Summer Camp

It is my habit to choose a book or passage of Scripture to meditate upon each week, to ponder, study and memorize portions of. These last two weeks while I was traveling I meditated upon 2 Thessalonians. Today’s sermon comes partially from meditating on chapter 2:3-10 of that book and how it relates to today’s New Testament reading, Revelation 6 and 8:1. As John presents to us the first set of patterns of historical events-3 repeats of seven snapshots of events in God’s timeline, Paul also directs our attention to the return of Christ and the coming judgment. He instructs us to have hope, to live not in obsession about the end times but in joy, peace and anticipation.
