57 The Orthodox Resurrection

****** We had lightning knock out our power in the middle of the sermon so we were unable to record it. This is the PDF of the sermon notes.*******

Dead Orthodoxy is an oxymoron. If a church is dead, it is because it is no longer orthodox. If a church is orthodox, it is alive.

What is orthodoxy? "Right Thinking" according to R. Scott Clark of Westminster Seminary California. To deny orthodoxy is to deny right thinking and therefore to deny truth. And to deny truth is evidence, not of spiritual life, but of spiritual death.(See Romans 2)

Therefore, orthodoxy is life.

Consider these 3 orthodox principles regarding the resurrection.

1)The supremacy of Jesus Christ is seen in the fact that Jesus is reigning now and is putting the world under His feet.

2)The judgment of eternal damnation and punishment by Christ upon unrepentant sinners is righteous, perfect and holy.

3)The believer is eternally secure because those who partake of the first resurrection will not be subject to the second death.
