The Power of the Holy Spirit

Jesus' Apostles had the dream of every Jewish person--the Messiah would come and restore the Kingdom of Israel and be the preeminent power in the then-known world. However, Jesus told them they did not need to know when He would come back (to do that very thing), BUT the power they wanted was going to come! Indeed, they would receive the power, not to rule the world, but to be witnesses (martyria, the root of martyr) throughout the entire world when the Holy Spirit came upon them!
