How to Respond to Evil

How should we respond to mistreatment by others? In this expository sermon we see that Jesus declares that we should not respond with personal vengeance but with nonresistance. Instead of responding in a way that escalates conflict, we should de-escalate conflict. Our Lord also teaches that we should overcome evil with acts of goodness. However, other Scriptures authorize self-defense against a threat to your life or lasting bodily harm, and this teaching does not prevent governing authorities from punishing evildoers.
