The Sacraments

In the Old Testament the Lord God used the rainbow as a sign of His ongoing care for
us and this earth. So also in the New Testament the Lord has given us the sacraments
as signs of His ongoing care and grace for us and for our souls. Our Belgic Confession
this evening emphasizes to us that we must not become fixated on the external sign,
but we are instead to focus on what that sign symbolizes. Tonight we learn of:

1. The sign of the sacraments.

2. The sign of Holy Baptism.

3. The sign of Holy Communion.
