23 Theology and the Good Life, Part 1

1 Timothy is a letter that explains how the Household of God is to operate, see 1 Timothy 3:15.

Since the definition of the good life is a heart issue, the pursuit of the good life is theological issue.

What the heart wants the mind pursues.

vs 5 The goal: selfish gain

Our theology reflects the condition od our heart.

Theology originating in pride results in:

1. arrogance
2. an unhealthy desire for controversy
3. selfish pursuits

Theology originating in humility results in:

1. knowing God
2. unity
3. contentment
