18 Unity and Christ's Name

Paul is instructing the Colossian Church on the necessary components of unity. Things that distinguish and separate people disappear with the Body of Christ. Because of the fundamental change that the Holy Spirit brings about, Christians ought to live in a unity that is fundamentally different from the rest of the world. The world finds and produces unity by sameness. You see this in the public school system, with its emphasis on the lower common denominator and indoctrination. But for Christians, our unity is not WHAT we have in common, but WHO we have in common. Christ is our all in all.
