David, God's Elect

The Israelites of David's time were apostate, just like those of Christ's day. They were ignorant of God' righteousness, doing what was right in their own eyes. God was not with King Saul, nor was he with King Herod. The rebellious, self-serving religious leaders of both periods led the people astray, but God still had an elect group. David is one of God's elect and he foreshadowed the coming of Christ, also God's Elect. Election is part of God's character, showing His exclusive and sovereign purpose in salvation.
