Salvation Is By Faith Alone
Series Fundamental Bible Doctrines
At the close of Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he begs Timothy to guard those things which were committed to his trust. This is the heart cry of Paul. There were false teacher present and more coming and Paul desperately wanted Timothy to take a stand (2 Ti 1:13 “Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.”) This was the burden on his heart. It was a burden because the gate as defined by Jesus is narrow and few find it. Because it is narrow, we don’t want to miss it. We want to see where it is, what it looks like, what is required to pass through and we want to cling to that. We say that there must first be an accurate understanding that Jesus Christ is Lord. If we don’t know Jesus for who He is, the promised One of God who is Lord of Heaven and Earth, we have no hope. Secondly, we saw that the apostles point us to the word of God. It is here that we learn what God has given us. It is the only place that can make us wise unto salvation. It comes as the very breath of God, telling us of the wisdom of God, teaching, admonishing, correcting and instructing us so that we might be complete and lack nothing. Now we want to look into the very core of salvation. It is here that Paul gives some of the strongest warnings and curses. Many come close, but miss the very core of salvation at this point. Join us as we look at the route to God, faith.
