God's laws against incest are to protect the family and the family of God from pagan families.
You may not have marital relations with close family members. You must never marry anyone closer in blood relations than a first cousin. You also may not marry someone closer than a first cousin to your divorced or deceased spouse. If you did, you would bring shame, disgrace, and danger upon you and your family.
