It is a great thing to study the biographies of the men and women of God that have lived throughout the ages.
The apostle Paul shows us that the people of God in the Old Testament were examples for us. 1 Cor 10:11
David was born about 1040 BC. He was the Shepherd boy who became Israel’s greatest king.
When you study the life of David you find that there are many facets to his life. David had both highs and lows in his life.
Despite David’s failures, the Apostle Paul declares that he was a man after God’s own heart in Acts 13.22.
When you look at David’s life you see a portrait of both success and failure.
His life is a portrait of both success and failure, but overall David had a heart that pointed to God.
David is named as the author of over 70 Psalms in the Bible.
When you read the Psalms you find that David was a man that loved both God and His Word.
David was a man that knew God’s mercy and he had a heart that was full of praise before the Lord.
The people of God can draw a lot of encouragement from David’s life.
Did you know that David is a type of Christ in the Bible?
The major difference being that Christ was without sin.
In David’s life we see many similarities to the life of Jesus.
David was of the Tribe of Judah, Jesus was born into the Tribe of Judah.
David was born in Bethlehem, Lord Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
David was chosen of God to be a king. Jesus was born to be a King.
