Gospel Courage or Cowardice

Sermon: II Timothy 1:3-12

Introduction:

I. Why may we feel timidity or cowardice or
“dis-couragement”?
A. We know ourselves.

B. We know our situation.

C. We are concerned about the future.

Point: we are similar to Timothy in these areas.	

II. Why, as Christians, should we not be cowardly?
A. Realize that you are empowered by God.

B. Realize what the Spirit gives to you--
   1. “power”

   2. “love”

   3. “self-discipline”

III. What should we do, then, to be courageous?
A. “stir up” or “fan into flames”

B. “not be ashamed”
